In an increasingly anonymous league—one that promotes a faceless player in its own commercials—Avery is providing a welcome dose of animosity.
He may be insensitive, wrong and impossible to love, a reprehensible diver and an execrably mediocre hockey player, but the NHL could sure use a few more like him.
