The Buffalo Sabres traded forward Daniel Paille to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday in exchange for Boston’s third-round selection in the 2010 Entry Draft and a conditional fourth-round selection in 2010.

Kaleta Accepts Sabres Qualifying Offer

BUFFALO, NY (July 15, 2009) – Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today that forward Patrick Kaleta has accepted his one-year qualifying offer.

Kaleta, (6/8/1986, 5-11,195 lbs) collected nine points (4+5) and 89 penalty minutes in 51 games last season. Kaleta missed 27 games due to a neck injury last season. Along with setting career-highs in all major statistical categories, the forward also averaged a career-high 8:55 on-ice time per game.

Sabres Sign Matt Ellis

BUFFALO, NY (July 9, 2009) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed unrestricted free agent forward Matt Ellis to a one-year contract.

Sabres Sign Travis Tuenbull

BUFFALO, NY (April 6, 2009) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed free agent forward Travis Turnbull to a two-year entry level contract. Turnbull, the son of former NHL’er Perry Turnbull, recently completed his senior season at the University of Michigan.

Turnbull will finish this season with the Portland Pirates on an AHL ATO, and his NHL contract will begin next season.

Turnbull (7/7/1986, 6’, 193 lbs.) posted career highs in points (28) and penalty minutes (74) this season, as Michigan advanced to the NCAA East Regionals. Turnbull never missed a game in his college career, and set the Michigan record for consecutive games played with 166. The native of Chesterfield, MO, finished with 90 points (40+50) and 241 PIMs in 166 career games with the Wolverines.

BUFFALO, NY (February 11, 2009) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have recalled forward Nathan Gerbe from Portland of the American Hockey League.

Gerbe (7/24/1987, 5’6”, 160 lbs.) is tied for the AHL rookie scoring lead with 37 points (20+17) in 32 games this season.

Gerbe Up To Buffalo

BUFFALO, NY (December 6, 2008) – Buffalo Sabres GM Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have recalled C Nathan Gerbe from Portland (AHL). In addition, the Sabres have returned RW Mark Mancari to Portland.

In just his first professional season, Gerbe (7/24/1987, 5’6”, 160 lbs.) is currently second on the Pirates in scoring with 24 points (14+10) in 21 games. Included in his goal totals are 7 PP tallies and a pair of game winners. Gerbe also has 25 PIMs and has taken a team-high 91 shots.

A native of Oxford, Michigan, Gerbe played three seasons at Boston College. Last season he led the nation in scoring with 68 points (35+33) in 43 games, while leading the Eagles to an NCAA Championship. Gerbe was a Hobey Baker finalist, and was named USA Hockey’s National College Player of the Year. Gerbe was selected in the fifth round (142nd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Matt Ellis Assigned To Portland

Matt Ellis cleared waivers today and was assigned to the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League.

Ellis (8/31/1981, 6’, 207 lbs.) played seven games with the Buffalo Sabres in the 2008-09 season, registering nine shots.

Splitting last season between Detroit and Los Angeles, the forward picked up eight points (3+5) in 54 games.
