Oilers Sign First Rounder Alex Plante

The Edmonton Oilers signed 2007 first round draft pick Alex Plante to an entry level contract on Thursday.
The Calgary Hitmen defenceman, who was drafted 15th overall, will collect an averge of $1.075 million over the course of the deal.

Oilers Replace AHL Coach

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have appointed Rob Daum as head coach of the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, replacing Jeff Truitt for the remainder of the 2008-09 season.
Daum, who was serving as a pro scout with the Oilers this season, will assume his role immediately with Edmonton’s AHL affiliate and will be behind the bench for the Falcons game at Manchester on Wednesday, February 11th. It is the first game of a four game road trip for Springfield.
Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini says, “The Oilers organization would like to thank Jeff for his commitment and effort. Jeff’s an outstanding individual who worked hard everyday to improve his hockey club.”
Daum is currently in his second season as a member of the Oilers’ organization after serving as an assistant coach with Craig MacTavish’s staff in 2007-08.

Oilers Recall Brule

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled centre Gilbert Brule from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
This will be Brule’s second recall to the Oilers this season. The 5’10”, 180 pound native of Edmonton, Alberta was first recalled to Edmonton on December 5th and made his Oilers debut in a 3-2 overtime win at San Jose on December 6th. He is scoreless and even in two games with Edmonton this season.

Schremp Back To The AHL

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have assigned centre Rob Schremp to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
The 5’11”, 200 pound forward from Syracuse, New York was recalled from Edmonton’s AHL affiliate on December 2nd and scored three assists in four games with the Oilers.

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have recalled centre Rob Schremp from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
The 5’11”, 200 pound forward from Syracuse, New York is the leading scorer for Springfield this season with 18 points in 18 games. The 22-year-old has scored one goal and a team-leading 17 assists in 18 games with the Falcons and is +5 with 10 penalty minutes. His 17 assists ranks him seventh in the American Hockey League with five of the 17 helpers coming on the powerplay.
