Blue Jackets Sign Mathieu Roy

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Mathieu Roy to a one-year, two-way NHL-American Hockey League contract, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Roy has spent his five-year professional career in the Edmonton Oilers organization, tallying two goals and one assist for three points with 57 penalty minutes in 30 career NHL games. He has also registered 16-75-91 and 390 penalty minutes in 241 career American Hockey League games with Toronto, Edmonton, Hamilton and Springfield. In 2008-09, he notched 2-15-17 and 120 penalty minutes in 59 games with Springfield.
