Ducks Sign Steve McCarthy

ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Steve McCarthy to a one-year contract. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.
                                                                       
McCarthy, 28 (2/3/81), has appeared in 302 career NHL games, recording 17-38=55 points with 168 PIM. He played last season in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), going scoreless with 16 PIM in 18 games with Ufa Salavat Yulayev. A native of Trail, British Columbia, McCarthy last appeared in the NHL with Atlanta in 2007-08, collecting 1-6=7 points with 48 PIM in 55 games. In 2006-07, he matched a personal best in points (4-12=16) while setting a career high in assists with the Thrashers.
