MONTREAL— Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today the signing of defenseman Alexandre Picard to a one-year, two-way contract (2010-11). As per club policy, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

A few teams do dzuunmod, but the vast majority don’t. It comes out eventually, so why not make it easier on everyone.

That’s my thinking too, Paul.
It would be nice if, in the next CBA, there was a provision stating that when an NHL player contract is signed, financial terms must be made public within some reasonable timeframe. It’s only fair to the hardcore fans who, in this day and age, have to follow the inner workings of their teams’ financials.
I’m obviously no lawyer, so I don’t know whether there’s anything preventing such a provision though.
